Post installation

I seem to be seeing an issue with every RSS feed that I am using. For instance:

The RSS-feed from Slashdot seems to be broken, because of error " invalid schema ".

I have checked out the feed in a feed validator and I have adjusted what URL I have put in the configuration from the following:

I am trying to use drupal with lampp. However, lampp comes with it sown install of mysql. I have my own install of mysql that I am trying to use. I have run all db setup scripts during the installation process but when I access drupal, I get the below error. I see that it is trying to access mysql using the wrong .sock file. I just do not know where/what I need to change so that it connects to my existing mysql installation. Can anyone help??

Heya everyone,

I want to be able to take a simple access group, and look at all users in each group. Is there an easy way to do this so one of my power users can monitor who is in certain groups?

I don't neccesarily need a banner up top, but I need some advice in getting a link on the top of the page with the Marvin theme. I currently have my logo in the very upper left corner, would like a link centered or to the right of it somewhere. Where would I go about looking to do this?
