Post installation

my home page is not receiving content. i select "promote to home page" in publishing options, but it does not appear on home page. i have gone through every admin feature, from making sure the theme is set up right to the rules and user priveleges. but can't seem to get content on the home page.

i have the front_page module and can post through its admin > setting authenticated user text window. this puts some text on the home page, but still no contnet being pushed when i post.

Is there a place where page not found errors can be trapped in order handle them in an alternative manner?

I see them show up in the watchdog and would like to know how they arrive there ino order to fix them.

I am running cron manually from the "status" page because it is on windoze, and poormanscron is not yet available for V5.0rc1.

Everytime I try to run it, the above is reported in my logs.

How do I unstick it, and is there any way to find out where it is stuck.

It has been like that for over 12 hours now.

My users only need to enter the "Start date" and time for an event. (All the events are concerts, so the "End Date" and time are not relevant.) Everything works fine providing they leave the "End date" and time at the default value (which is earlier than the entered value for "Start date"). They may get unexpected results if they modify the "End date". Eg they may think they are entering a repeat event by setting the "End date" for the following day, but they end up with one concert lasting over 24 hours!

I do not like the way the Poll Module displays in the side block, it seems kind of bulky.

Currently it takes 3 lines per poll item, at least with the Garland Theme it does, I would like to shorten that to 1-2 lines for each poll items.

Hi. I have added the events module and would like to have the events which fall on today's date on the front page. I have tried playing with the event_views module but have had no luck. Can anyone help?

Also, if wanted today's + n days events how would I achieve that?
