i would like to have a menu item link straight to a file. so far i linked a menu item to a page and attached files to that page. Is there a way to bypass the page?

I am new to Drupal. How do i make a menu item path to a clean content page (the middle area). or even better, a page where i can set links?
I download the Views module but can't understand what is the path i should refer to. maybe there is a easier way?

I didn't see this covered in the readme. How do I setup auto update via cron? I check the update via cron check box, but there are not crontabs on the server.

Hi. I have both Category and Views modules installed.
My setup is a hidden container (cont), a category under that container (cat1), and then several categories under the category (cat2).

-cont (hidden)
--cat1
---cat2
---cat2
---cat2

What I want is for when a user clicks on cat1, they'll see a list of its child categories, and when a user clicks on cat2, they see a list of nodes under that category (link to node with title and author only). How can I do this? The latter is most important since I can just manually link cat1's child categories in the category body.

The settings for Views are a bit confusing. I've gotten it to filter nodes by type, but then you can see options to change the filter. I don't want users to be able to pick.

Basically, I want the view to be filtered but not show the filter box. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it?

Not related, but what is up with the indent at the beginning of all my nodes? I don't know why, but at the beginning of each node, there is always an indent and the only way I can get rid of it is by manually adding a line break so when the text starts on a new line, there is no indent. Even if the first thing on the page is a list, the firt bulleted item will be indented. It's rather annoying. Anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it? I've gone through my stylesheet and tried changing a few values but noth

I have simplenews running on a drupal 4.7.4 site. We currently have about 3,800 people subscribed to some of our newsletters. I have double checked this list myself and found no duplicates. But when I send a newsletter to our list, I get the same newsletter about 5 times in my own gmail account (which is only subscribed *once*)...
