Post installation

I'm confused how the input formats work.
I've used "Text Only" for some while now with the Line break converter.
With out the "HTML Filter" turned on, you can can post HTML to the nodes.

I've created a new filter, with the following options; Line break converter, HTML Filter.
With Allowed HTML tags set to;a, em, strong, b, cite, code, ul, ol, li, dl, dt, dd

But when I creat a new node, it doesn't use the Line break converter.
All my text is bunched up, I have tired putting in extra line breaks but this hasn't had any affect.

I have Drupal 5.1 and the latest version of Addressbook. My version of PHP is version 4.4.4 with GD enabled. Whenever I try to upload a jpeg image I get the errors:

Unable to create image. Is Gd library active in apache php module?

Unable to create thumbnails image. Is Gd library active in apache php module?

Did stock module support indian stock exchange?
Also give me list of other exchanges supported.

This one is really kicking my butt and I'm hoping it's something easy that I'm just overlooking.

I create a node with user "Joe" (normal authenticated user) and submit it. Then later on when I'm logged in as user "root" (user #1) I edit Joe's node and submit it. Then when I'm logged in as Joe again and I try to "edit" the node I cannot, it's not possible, the "edit" tab is gone and I'm denied access to editing that node since it was last submitted with root.

Okay I have been plugging away at my site and have just created two Views for the front page for my images but find that instead of the way I want them place, which is side by side like DeviantArt it comes up one below the other in all cases. Without actually changing any code is it possible to make it so that they can be side by side? If not how do you change it anyway or is there a Mod that can help?

Yes, I am still fairly new with Drupal, and for the first time I need to run update.php.
I clicked and ... nothing bad happened. Actually, nothing at all happened.

I logged in via ssh, roamed the directories... no update.php that I could find.

Any idea?
