4.7.2 upgrade to 5.0 best procedure

Hi, I have a site that is currently on 4.7.2 and saw that 5.0 is available. I wanted to know if the upgrade process is straightforward? I know my question has probably been answered in the other posts but I cannot find a simple for someone who hasn't done this yet. I want to minimize as much problems as possible. I have a current back up of my sql db and files. Any help would be appreciated.

4.7.4 --> 5.0 = Blank screen

Hi
I hope someone can help me out here as I have run out of ideas. The title says it all, I follow the upgrade instructions to the letter, go through all the upgrade steps with no errors, when I get to the end where it says click on the admin pages or go to the main page all I get is a blank screen, no errors just a blank white screen. It doesn't matter where I try to go on the website, the screen is blank.
I have gone through these forums looking for an answer, but everything I have tried has not worked. I have tried

Drupal upgrade problem (to version 5.0)

When I upgraded my Drupal installation to version 5.0 everything went smooth except I have the following error on the site all the time:
I already searched for the issue and a possible fix but I could not find a clear answer to what the issue is related to.
I have the same version running on the same server with same configuration fine.

pager doesn't go to next page

I have a multi-site setup with 4 domains (at least) being served from one codebase. Moved it over to 5.0 and all seems well... until I found that SOME of the domains will not go to the "next" page using the default pager. The URL looks fine, but when I click, it just goes to the base URL.

An example is http://www.brucesbrain.com/

Now I have occasionally gotten it to work, for a few minutes, but it won't "stay fixed".

Ideas?

I've cleaned the cache... I've tried with cache mode off.

change database target

Hello everybody,

I have the following problem :

I have a new database on my server. this database is called with the name of my main site. My main site is connected to another database.

So Yesterday I have copy all the old db (titouille) on the new db (sabugo) and refresh the "settings.php".

I have refesh the site to see if all was ok, and all seems to be ok. But today, I have send the url to a friend, and he alert me that the site is down, with fatal error message...

Update to 5.0 - need module suggestions

Greetings -

I am eager and interested to update to 5.0, but it seems that two modules of which I make frequent use (advuser and privatemsg) have not been developed (yet?) for 5.0.

Does anyone have any suggestions for modules that provide similar functionality?

advuser - a tool allowing for customization/additional fields to be added to the user account area

privatemsg - users can send and receive private messages from within the Drupal system.

Thanks!
