The title says pretty much what the problem is about. I don't know exactly when the problem began to manifest, but now I have certain modules (for instance TinyMCE) that work properly, but do not show up in the module list anymore. Those modules that generate menu entries in setting pages (e.g. TinyMCE) are still configurable, even if they have disappeared from the modules list.

I am trying to place RSS feed content into a book page. By trying the different block controls I can place the content before the page begins or after it ends. Not in the page.
I have tried many different themes to no avail. It worked on some themes in 4.7 and 5.0
I'm posting in this area because I know this was working fine on my 4.7 install, but I noticed this isn't working for me since I upgraded. Nodes display fine on the front page. When I go to site.com/blog I get the expected list of teasers for all blogs. When I go to blog/[user] for any user name, however, no content is displayed - just my template with menus, blocks, etc, but no main content.
I checked the url aliases and tried entering the url as blog/1 for example, but it made no difference.
