How do I add a default "greeting" page - something other than "Access Denied" on the login page?

Everything works great (after solving many installation issues with config/link, etc), but I still get "Access Denied - You are not authorized to view this page" in the body of the login page. How can I replace this message with a greeting page?

Showing comment moderation

Hi. I would like the current score of a moderated comment to be shown with the comment so all readers can see it. Currently comments have a subject, author and date. How can I add the current score to each comment as well? I want a result which is somewhat similar to slashdot etc.

Kind regards,

JoeBlow

Movable Type replacement

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a Movable Type replacement. I have looked at drupal a little bit, and I would like to know if Drupal can do what I need.

Here is what I would like:
A weblog system that can do LDAP authentication with personal weblogs for all users and the users can attach multiple categories to their entries. Trackback on weblog entries would be nice. It must scale to thousands of users. Think a large university campus.

Can users create their own categories in Drupal?

Is there a module for drupal that lets users add their own RSS feeds?

Using Drupal to bring newspapers online

I'm Co-Editor-in-Chief of my high school's newspaper. Over the summer, I setup a website for the newspaper, using Drupal for content management.

I love Drupal, but we have run into some issues translating our print media publication to the internet.

My first challenge was getting all of my staff members as users with the right privileges. I had to wait for them to sign up and then make their user the right role. After that, I had to rely on them to post their own stories. Some people couldn't figure out how to post, and others just didn't. Additionally, sometimes we have two people work on one story, and I couldn't figure out a way to deal with that.

I was also never really able to rectify the issue-based nature of our publication with Drupal. I would like for the current issue to kind of take control of the site, and then have a way to access past issues. Kind of like this site.

For a variety of reasons, our site is now in a state of neglect and disrepair. It had become forgotten and abandoned. I want to bring it back to life and to do it right this time.

I do know php, html, and such, but I never really had a lot of time to spend making my own modules or hacks. I looked over a lot of stuff this summer, but in the end it came down to just getting something up. That is also why the site uses a modified version of the interlaced theme instead of its own unique one. Development of Drupal has also grown quite rapidly since september, and I haven't been able to keep up on all that is going on.

Install system - requirements

Update: an installer finally got into Drupal 5

Over the last few weeks, I have been attempting to simplify the deeper intricacies of installing, and maintaining a drupal system, while allowing for a more centralized/controlled method of providing database scripts for contributed modules.

A good example of the intended result would be quotes and menus in the contrib modules. The modules contain the neccesary SQL to create, and update the tables required for operaton/installation of the module directly within the .module code. This makes them incredibly userfriendly, and simple for even the greenest newbie to install a contributed module without needing to know anything about MySQL, PostgreSQL an ssh connection and yes , even phpmyadmin.

distributed authetification

I have a website already .. it also has login and password for the user. right now, my company want to connect it to drupal.. ... and I was assigned for that job.

I read in documentation about Distributed Authentification...and I am interesting in that. Can someone tell me how to do that coz I am still confusing how to do that ? should i set something in the cookies ? session ?

and how to make auto registration when my customer signed up for my website ... so they can signed up to our drupal as well ...

thanks a lot ..
