Add a bunch of users to a group - (COLDFUSION)

CF Script to add a bunch of users to a OG role. It selects the users from the users DB with a limit of 250, recommend setting that to 10 for testing. Then loops through and updates the og_uid database with each user.

Newby- Should I dive straight in?

Hi,

Over the past 2 years I have built about 6 websites using a simple WYSIWYG editor and have had them hosted on 1and1 shared server. I want to expand the concept of one of these sites to make it a member driven community ( members paying to be part of it, members able to post events, sign up for events, contact each other, forum board, etc ). I've surfed the web a lot over the past month and have concluded that Drupal could be what I need. I have no experience of coding I should say.

I'm awaiting delivery of the new book by David Mercer regarding the building of community sites. Having read the free Chapter2 it seems right on my level and has already clarified a lot of things I've read on this forum. It recommends downloading a package including PHP, MYSQL and running a test site on my home PC. Unfortunately, my PC is still running WIN98....Here's are my questions folks?

Would you recommend that I set up a test site on my PC and should I expect problems ( not supporting new levels of PHP??) given that I'm running such an old version of Windows? Should I reformat my PC and load a new version of windows? Alternatively, should I just set up a test site using my 1and1 host? ( Just read that in 4.7 a site can be retained as private?) Is it logical to have a test site and a live one both on my 1and1 server for the long term ( I know my package supports 2 SQL databases )? Does this seem like I'm dreaming and should I perhaps be seriously considering paying someone to do the site for me? I've also had a look at civicspace and this seems to have all of the functions that I want.

Any XML XPERTS?

If XML can wrap binary information (like images) then what would have to be done to enable a person to take an XML file from say open office, sticking the code into a node in drupal, enabling full html (this is probably the hitch) and viewing the content? What XML capabilities are available? Necessary?

Does the XML code know how to render by checking the DTD or published XML schema or is my concept way too basic?

Drupal's Architecture Framework

I have told my boss that I have identified a suitable CMS engine that can serve our medium-sized intranet. I have showed him a working test site and he was quite impressed.

Yesterday, he told me that before he can give the green light for deployment, he would like to see Drupal's Architecture Framework. What is that anyway? What do I have to understand to create one. Please, please help.

Drupal Documentation

Hello everyone. I am in the process of learning Drupal and trying to convert my Joomla CMS sites over to Drupal. I have been trying to read some of the online handbooks but would much prefer a .pdf manual or something like that if it is available.

I need to read up on creating the templates and so forth or how I can go about converting my Joomla CSS templates over to Drupal. I also need to read/learn on how to integrate or use phpMyFAQ, phpList and osCommerce in the Drupal environment if possible.

Better User Permissions

Is it possible to setup a user with permission to write something, but not to publish it?

I have looked all over the place and cannot seem to find it.

Thanks,
Jim
