Allowing anonymous users to only view front page?

Under "permissions" the "access content" setting seems to be all or nothing.

How would I go about to allowing anonymous users to only view the front page but not click any "read more" links etc? Another solution would be to have different permissions for static pages and storys.

I'm setting up my first Drupal site, but it will not be my last. Drupal is the most solid CMS I have yet used.

Page not found error

On one of my production sites (http;//www.sempre-crescendo.nl/) i keep getting the 'Page not found" message.. All permissions are set correctly after upgrading to latest CVS and also the update.php has been runned.
After loggin in, everything seems to be fine.. But as an anonymous visitor you only see the "Page not found"-message and the "Log in"-block..

Please help me, this site should be up and running again ASAP...

cron tasks and 'access denied'

hi there,

am really new to all this and have got a drupal site up and running - was wondering though, how do you set up the cron.php script to run regularly if shell access is disabled on your web server? the server is using PHP 4.3.4

also, when opening the site in a browser, i get an 'access denied' message - even after i have enabled the modules / nodes and configured the site... any ideas why this is happening? i thought perhaps it was because, by default, users that are not logged in are unable to view the site content... ?? how could i fix this?

Change username

Hello, Is there a way to don't let the users change their username?

Making the Navigation Menu / Block User Friendly

OK I noticed that in at least my implementation so far, the order that the various options appear in the Navigation Menu / Block seems to be rather random. Is there a hook somewhere that will enable me to manipulate the list of things appearing in this block while maintaining it's dynamic nature? Basically, what I'm after is some way to "sort" the links that appear in this menu so that they appear in something of a logical order.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Cannot update user profile

Hi:

Pardon for re-stating a problem that someone else had already posted (and seemingly solved)... because for me it has not been solved, and my members are quickly going away. I need to resolve it fast and unfortunately, I am a newbie to Drupal. When I had initially installed Drupal, everyting was working beautifully ... including editing of profiles. But currently, after having put some contents as well as installed some modules this is whats happened:

Members are able to register themselves and I (as the admin) am able to register members individually, but currently each member is unable to update his own profile (Yes, I have the profile module enabled and yes, I have given all the necessary permissions. Even the main admin (me) cannot update anyones profile. The page simply reloads when the Submit button is pressed.)

This is what I did: I installed Drupal 4.3.1 on a server which is running Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) FrontPage/5.0.2.2623 mod_ssl/2.8.12 OpenSSL/0.9.6b DAV/1.0.3 PHP/4.1.2 mod_perl/1.26 on Linux. (Red-Hat 7.3)

The Site is using the xtemplate theme. I changed the theme, and even then it didnt work.

The last activity that I had done was install the mailhandler, privatemsg, and members module and activate them. I had the taxnav module installed and enabled, but as it was not doing anything I could understand I had disabled it. (I tried reversing all the disabling/enabling but that didnt work either)
