"unable to select database"

I'm new to Drupal, and I'm already stuck trying to set-up the installation.

After configuring the 'settings.php' file I try to preview my site, but
I get the error message:

"unable to select database"

Not sure what the means - seems to be saying that it can find the
database, but doesn't have access to it??

I have no idea, can anyone help?

Thanks,
Steve

Drupal and CiviCRM on SQL 4 - foreign key problems & SQL Syntax errors

I hope someone can help me with this soon. I don't know where else to post.

I have installed Drupal and CivCRM on my MacOS X 10.2.8 Server running as follows:

Server OS: Darwin 6.8
Database: MySQL 4.0.26-standard
PHP Version: 4.3.10 (Zend: 1.3.0)
[i.e. Zend Optimizer v2.5.10]

I used the mySQL query called civicrm_40.mysql to set up the tables, which all goes well.

When I import the civicrm_generated.mysql query to import data, a numer of lines in the results report say something about Error: Cannot add or update a child... and then when I use the web site and go to CiviCRM, I get this error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Database Error Code: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails, 1216

Before importing that civicrm_generated.mysql, if i went to CiviCRM, I'd get this error instead:

Find Contacts

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Database Error Code: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') ORDER BY name' at line 1, 1064

Return to CiviCRM menu.

Image node - image cannot be found

Hello

Apologies if this is covered before - I couldn't find it in a forum or handbook.

I have created an image node - uploaded the image with it - the image is in the correct directory on the server but when i go to the node web page the image is not displaying.

The images (original, large and thumbnail) are on the server but the page is not displaying them.
There are read permissions on the directory.
The url of the image is pointing to the correct file location.

Could you please tell me what I am missing?

thanks
Sean

Cannot upload Images: failed to open stream: Permission denied in c:...\file.inc

I am new to Dupal. I recently installed the Images module and when I try to upload an image I get the error:
warning: copy(files/...image.jpg): failed to open stream: Permission denied in c:\webhostpath\drupal-4.6.3\includes\file.inc on line 272.

I guess this is a permissions problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

JohnM
