White screen, when upgrading Drupal - only on pages generated by ZEN [#799700]

I have older version of Drupal, 6.10 and Zen 2.x dev (about 9 month old]. When I tried tu upgrade Drupal for current version 6.16 (even zen for current version), my theme stopped to work and there is only white screen. Garland theme works perfectely after the update of Drupal. White screen appears also after upgrading other modules for current version.

Any idea? Thank you

it happens any time I run update.php file, after it all zen pages are white pages..

I'm having a similar issue. It was not triggered by update.php in my case, it is a new site. For me the white screen only appears on IE8, all other browsers look fine. Are you getting white screens in other browsers as well?

I'll post if we find a solution, please let me know if you solved this on your own.

I get the WSOD when I enable "Optimize CSS files" (in Administer > Site Configuration > Performance) using Zen theme*. No WSOD using default Garland theme as reported. So, maybe temporarily disabling the css optimization option may help, until we correctly identify and resolve the problem?

*Zen theme 6.x-1.1 (recommended release on May 19, 2010), on Drupal 6.16, PHP 5.2.13, 32MB PHP memory limit, on Apache.

The WSOD problem associated with the Zen theme seems to be well documented—see #331915: Performance: When enable optimization for css and javascript ... site goes down instant!. The solution proposed by gantenx (#331915) to resolve the CSS aggregation problem does work, but hacking core is not a good idea and should be avoided.
