I have the following:

/sites/all/themes/zen
/sites/website1.com/themes/zensub1
/sites/website2.com/themes/zensub2

Both zensub1 and zensub2 are themes that have .info entries of "base theme = zen"

What happens is that, after a period of time, website2 with zensub2 stops working, and when looking at the appearance page, zensub2 has become disabled!

I end up with a bunch of warning messages such as:

Notice: Undefined index: zensub2 in drupal_theme_initialize() (line 100 of /var/www/html/equimed/includes/theme.inc).
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in _drupal_theme_initialize() (line 146 of /var/www/html/equimed/includes/theme.inc).

Help please. I am getting ready to abandon multi-site and just go with separate websites if I can't figure this out soon.

Also note, website1 with its subtheme works fine and has never had any problems.

Could you please comment on if the scenario mentioned in the original post is supposed to be functional within a zen based subtheme?

For what it's worth, I found the source of this site's problem and a fix.

The cron for this particular multi-site site was not implemented properly, so the cron task was not being run. The actual mechanism for why this caused the zen subtheme to become disabled is not understood. When I got the cron for this site working, the problem went away!

If you are seeing this problem, make sure your cron is working properly.
