I'm fairly clueless, and just starting to understand the 'issues', and patches community network of drupal. So I wanted to submit this softball issue to see if someone can help me.
The administrative toolbar at the top is gone for some reason. And, now on all admin pages I see this error message:

Help? What did I do wrong? I installed Zen and enabled it, and then enabled Ice Business.

brandonmbowman-1 commentedare you using the Zen 7.x-5.x-dev as recommended in the doc... i found i was using the stable and when i switched my errors where gone... but my admin menu was still gone also... but im going to try admin menu module i like it better anyway good luck
Comment #3
hunterish commentedNo I only knew I needed to install Zen so I installed the current version. I didn't pay attention to the fact that I needed a specific version..
brandonmbowman-1 commentedok also to let you know admin menu (http://drupal.org/project/admin_menu) worked great for me as an alternative to toolbar..remember to disable toolbar if you use it... and if you lose the menu after applying a theme you can get into the overlay by going into the configuration widgit on a block and selecting administration from the breadcrumb... (that's what happened to me so just sharing)

aliyayasir commentedInstallation instructions for D7:
The ICE-Business 7.x branch is developed as a subtheme of Zen.
Before you enable this theme, you must have the Zen theme 7.x-5.x branch installed in the same theme directory.
@hunterish
We have clearly mentioned with project page that u have to install Zen theme 7.x-5.x branch.
@brandonmbowman
We are unable to produce the admin menu error, are you facing this issue with any specific browser?
did u checked the js error?
Please look at the below url,
http://drupal.org/node/1402342
We are in process to release a new branch. that will fix the issue mentioned in #1402342

brandonmbowman-1 commented@aliyayasir the issue is with toolbar in core 7... admin menu works like a charm so i just left toolbar alone switching to another theme did restore the toolbar btw but no errors in the log at all. when the toolbar did not appear the shortcuts still did... also the toolbar itself did appear its more so that it had no links in it so it was just a black line... ill try to get you a pic if it helps
Comment #8
aliyayasir commentedThis issue belongs to drupal 7, this is not a theme issue, if you switch the theme to garland, toolbar not appear for me. it means this is a drupal core issue.
hunterish commentedI've went and installed the CORRECT version of Zen, and the error messages go away. You lose the drupal core admin bar at the top, but #4 explains that you should install admin menu to circumvent that problem.
Thank you!
Fanaile commentedI'm still getting this exact same error message, and the instructions say I do not need Zen for this version, so I do not have that installed, but that also means that the fixes above can't help me.:
aliyayasir commentedHello,
I apologize for late reply, i was out of country for some business trip. &.2 does not required Zen, do you have updated from previos version to new or installed a fresh theme? DId you tried clear cache?
Fanaile commentedThanks for getting back to me. I completely understand a hectic schedule...
This was a clean install, and I did try clearing my cache (a few times, actually) to try to clear the errors.

rickharington commentedSorry guys, but I'm having this on the standalone and looking at other themes like this Zero Point theme it has something to do with the admin links http://drupal.org/node/1179176. My error says
Notice: Undefined variable: admin_links in include() (line 32 of /home/fivestor/public_html/xxxxxxx.co.za/sites/all/themes/ICE-BUSINESS/templates/views-view.tpl.php).Comment #15
chrigou commentedHello,
I have the same problem with Zen only at the first call of the home page, I mean if the website sleep one night and I'm the first user to access it, this problem appears:
If I call the page again, this problem disappears (until the next sleep...)
Any information please ? Thanks.

johnalbinThere's about 3 different issues described in the comments. I can't make heads or tails of it because you are all describing different issues. Closing.

greenskunkI had one site that was giving the error.
Notice: Undefined variable: admin_links in include() (line 34 ...There was a backup folder of an older version of Zen sitting in the themes folder along with a newer version.
I had renamed it and saved it somewhere else but forgot to remove it.
Removed the older version of Zen and flushed the cache and no more error.
