dave reidIt looks like what's going on is our current method for not having duplicate links in the sitemap (for instance if you have menu links that point to nodes or taxonomy terms), is to just skip and move the the next link. So your first chunk page (http://www.siam-moebel.de/en/sitemap-1.xml) only has 4984 links because I'm guessing you'd have up to 16 duplicate links. If we didn't skip those links, your first chunk would likely have 5000 links and your second one would have a couple. The problem is the chunk generation process is still kinda dumb on how many XML chunk pages need to be created. It will likely be revamped between now and 6.x-2.0 release, but for now you can just ignore it. Until its revamped, there's not much I can do. :/

thx for the fast reply, I'am not sure if you are on the right track or maybe I misunderstood something ?
The sitemap has now 5063 links and situation hasn't changed. For an other language they are 6210 links and same situation.
The documentation on the xml-sitemap settings page talk about 50.000 not 5.000, I think this is the chunk size ?
" .. If you have more than 50,000 links, an index with multiple sitemap pages will be generated."
But at the other side, from my point off view, this is not an elemantary bug so I will change the Priority to minor.
& thanks for the support
