Hi

1) I noticed in my sitemap.xml that both mydomain.com and mydomain.com/front-page were listed and they both pointed to the same page i.e. mydomain.com/front-page. I was concerned that this may lead to duplicate content of the home page.

I did some investigation and http://localhost/mydomain.com/admin/settings/xmlsitemap has an option for Front Page. It states:
Current front page:
http://localhost/mydomain.com/
The front page path can be changed at /mydomain.com/admin/settings/site-information.

However, regardless of what I change the front page path to the module never recognises the new setting and always states:
Current front page:
http://localhost/mydomain.com/
The front page path can be changed at /mydomain.com/admin/settings/site-information.

Is that supposed to happen?

2) I can use the Change Frequency option in Front Page to change the bot frequency. However none of the other Content Types have a Change Frequency option (they do have Default priority for content of this type:)...how can I change their frequency values?

Thanks

A recent commit removed the front page display because it was always showing the same path. I guess this should reply to your question about the front page.
The change frequency is calculated from the timestamp of the modifications done to a node; there isn't a way to directly set the change frequency, and that option is given only for the front page, for which is not possible to calculate it.

Hi Kiam

Thanks for responding to my question. I am using the latest 6.x-2.x-dev module. When you say 'a recent commit removed the front page display' does that mean a future release of 6.x-2.x-dev will avoid duplicating xml references to both the Drupal site Front Page and the Drupal front page: defined at /admin/settings/site-information?

Is there any indication of the time between 'a recent commit' being decided and then included in the module?

Thanks

Well crap, I had typed up a reply and thought I posted it, but I apparently never hit Submit or it disappeared. Dig1, to answer your questions (I'm the maintainer of the 6.x-2.x branch):

1. I had add the frontpage 'preview' field since I thought it would be nice for people to see where their current frontpage would link to. But as you found out, using url() to link to the frontpage will always result in the same URL, so having this display is basically useless. I removed it but kept the link to edit the frontpage path.

2. You can manually adjust the change frequency for the frontpage because it's not currently possible to calculate that value for the front page (although there is a postponed issue here: #470922: Auto-calculate frontpage lastmod and changefreq). We can automatically calculate the appropriate value for nodes currently, so it shouldn't be right to be able to override it. Even then, the change frequency is still just a suggestion for the search engines that read your site's sitemap.xml, so it's not too important to get it correct or even have it. The main point is having the correct link to your content in the sitemap.
