possible to add token support for things like pathauto?

was wondering if you had any plans to add token API support so that a node's workflow status can be tied into things like PathAuto. We're trying to use Workflow as our primary links, and currently that only appears possible through creating views. While the corresponding primary links menu is active for the workflow view, it is not active when one views/edits the node due to the different path (e.g., /views/drafts vs. /node/123/edit).

My understanding from speaking with the developer of PathAuto (greggles) is that in order for workflow status to appear as an option in PathAuto's config, the workflow module needs to add hooks to the token API.

How difficult would this be to do?
