I really enjoyed and used the full list of all modules that came up when clicking on drupal.org/Modules and
especially the list under Categories that listed all modules of that particular category.
The first (full) list with all the module names is now under http://drupal.org/node/206666, but
it's sorted alphabetically, not thematically (I mean by module category,
can't say "modularly").
Clicking on the block (right sidebar, Projects", CCK) gives you a list of only ten items
for CCK, starting with A. Basically, to see all 300 cck modules, you have to click 30 (!) times
and wait for the page to load. Hardly an efficient way to get a quick overview.
I cannot create or view a list of all the modules related to cck, views etc. for example
or view a full list of all modules sorted by category.
This is especially useful when you want to check on all the available modules enhancing
a certain "big" module like cck, views or a category of functionality etc.
Addition / long term goal:
To make the module list searchable by certain functionalities desired by the
user/web admin or "what does this module do" kind of tags.
That would greatly lower the hurdle for entry-level drupalistas, reduce
complexity and allows one to make sense out of that vast spectrum of drupal
modules. It would allow you to search for **functionality, not modules**
(the same way we do not work for money, but for the things we can buy
and do with it), as the number is increasing every day and getting harder
to keep track of.

mlhess commentedPutting all of a module type on a single page would be unsuable and take a while to load given the number of modules we have. I am marking this closed. Feel free to reopen if you disagree.
