I've received emails notifications entitled "Drupal Groups Toronto: HTACCESS Redirect Development", which at the bottom mention

but I don't remember ever subscribing to Drupal Groups Toronto and https://groups.drupal.org/user/2766978/notifications/subscriptions seems to agree with my recollection, see attached screen shot (for its content at the time of writing this).

The URL in the email seem to link to a thread in a group I am subscribed to, Montreal, but I wonder why the title is that way and also the 1st post of that thread mention a phone number which regional code is for Ottawa and surrounding Eastern Ontario (a whole other province).

Please let me know how to fix, or fix it for me, so that in Groups (Drupal) I'm not notified of anything outside my province: Quebec.

That discussion was crossposted to multiple groups. One of them is Montreal, which you said you are subscribed to. I don't know how it determines which group to put in the title. That is confusing, I agree.
