when displaying the "folders" block, it displays and also links to the imapfolders as above.

same thing at the dropdown in the main area:
<option value="move_to_{mydomain.tld:143/notls}INBOX">Move to {mydomain.tld:143/notls}INBOX</option>

so, its not possible to navigate to the folders nor move any message..

In Mail API settings for your server set prefix to "{mydomain.tld:143/notls}" and then check "Hide Folder Prefix."

Different mail servers respond in different formats. Mail API was tested against a bunch of IMAP servers including Dovecot, Courier, UW IMAP and even Gmail and this resulted in the above feature being added. It was easier to add prefix handling than continue testing against all IMAP servers. You'll also find a similar implementation in SquirrelMail.
