URL length needs to be increased to 255 or more?

Hi,

Could in drupal 7 weblinks exist the same as was in D6 and D5, that the weblinks url is not lengthy enough?
See https://www.drupal.org/node/284463 for old D5/6 issue.
I have urls which do not fit in url field right now.
