I cannot figure out where the information appearing in the description field in Paypal should be configured.

For example, webform #01 is for a Event A whereas webform #02 is for Event B. When a buyer submits the webform it redirects to Paypal page with a description of their purchase. However, it fails to reflect the correct description (e.g. either Event A or Event B).

Any help is appreciated.

This is a question for Paypal (as in paypal.com), not Webform Pay. I personally use authorize.net.

The thing is the product information sent to Paypal is via Webform Pay. Let me attempt to explain further.

1. Required modules (Pay and Webform Pay) were installed
2. Webform created
3. A select field (list box) with options for values added (e.g. Value $1, Value $2, Value $3, etc)
4. Pay field added
5. Selected select field (from step 3) as Price Component in Pay field

My assumption for this module would be that when a user purchases a product (value $1, value $2 or value $3) that description should be shown on Paypal's page. Is this possible?

Title: Where do I configure the product description? » Add support for the "note" field to send information or description to the payment gateway
Category: support » feature

You didn't mention in your description whether you were using Paypal Website Payments Pro or PayFlow Pro, but assuming you're using one of those the situation is the same. On the Webform Pay side we need to support Pay.module's use of the "note" property, which is sent as a description to Paypal (or as as "COMMENT1" in Payflow Pro).

Right now Webform Pay generally assumes that you'll use Drupal to check information about purchases, rather than the payment gateway (which pretty much just collects the cash, with no record of why).

Obviously this would be a good feature for Webform Pay to include, at the very least we should be providing a link back to the Webform submission so that the payment is associated with something. I'm moving this issue to a feature request.

Thanks! Still playing around with this module. It's great thus far.

By way of clarification, does webform pay support sending extra/description info via Authorize.Net? (I'm not sure what the combined result is of #1 and #3). Not seeing anything obvious in the UI or the code - but I've been known to miss things. Pointers welcome.

Also - fwiw - it looks like the Authorize.Net pay module once upon a time didn't support comments - there's a patch against alpha1 here: http://drupal.org/node/1015198. Alpha2 is the current release as of this writing and the code that patch applied to looks like it's been refactored pretty significantly, but what appears to be the equivalent transactionRequestData method appears to now support order descriptions:

    // Order information.
    if (isset($transaction->order)) {
      $data['x_invoice_num'] = $transaction->order->invoiceNumber;
      $data['x_description'] = $transaction->order->description;
      $data['x_po_num']      = $transaction->order->purchaseOrderNumber;
    }
