This has been reported three times before, but the answers given haven't solved the problem for me.

The system.css file contains .resizable-textarea { width: 95% };
This prevents the column specification that webform uses for the resizeable text area.
The effect is that webform cannot control the resizable textarea width; it is fixed at 95%.

The suggested answer was to over-ride that CSS with 'inherit'.
I'm not sure if I'm doing that properly, but I can over-ride the system css with things like:

div.resizable-textarea { width: inherit; }
div.resizable-textarea { width: auto; }
.webform-client-form .resizable-textarea { width: inherit; }

However, this just makes the width effectively 100%, and webform *still* cannot
dictate the width with it's column specification.

I don't know CSS, so I might be trying to do this wrongly.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

To adjust a webform text area width in CSS:

.webform-client-form input.form-text {
width: 265px;
}

Adjust the width accordingly. Hope this helps, and if you have any questions let me know.

I'm closing this issue, it's out-of-scope for support given in the Webform queue.
