It would be helpful if there was an existing default webform (or an easy way to create it) with all the stuff that we usually need for a simple contact form.

Fields: name, email, subject, message. all required.
Emails: One that is sent to the person who filled in the webform, another that is sent to the site owner.

Usually I have to do this again and again for every single website I make. And most of them look quite similar. Would be a huge productivity benefit if this work was automated!

Thanks

Just create a Webform node, unpublish it, then use Node Clone module to clone it every time you make a new form.

Sure, but the point is I want to use this for new sites I make. I want to enable the module and have a functional contact form as quickly as possible.

Typical use case would be a friend asking for a small site, that I don't want to spend a lot of time with. Or more general, almost any site I make has a contact form.

Then you can use Node Export and export/import the node, or copy it to a text file and then paste it in when you need to duplicate it.

I'm using 6.x-3.0-beta5, and tried the "Content Management > Node Export: Import".
A new node was created, with all the core and CCK stuff, but without the webform elements.

The imported code does contain a webform section with components, but it gets lost on import.

ok, makes sense, but i will have to wait for
#768960: Webform nodes no longer can be cloned
to go into a stable or beta release.
(currently using 6.x-3.0-beta5 for new projects)
