The date field gives the option to select year from present year and back.
What if I want to select future year?

It will be very helpful if the module has the option to set the year field (like the DATE modul has in CCK)

This is already implemented in the development version 2.x. Please try it out and report back if it doesn't meet your needs. It'll be included in the 2.1 release once a few issues are worked out in the Drupal 6 version.

To try the dev version, visit the Webform project page, click "View all releases" then find the 2.x-dev version.
