Since the Operations links comsume quite a bit of the webform fields overview table (especially in some languages other than English), it would be a nice usability enhancement to allow for usage of an optional dropbutton element (as provided by ctools).
To avoid a ctools dependency, this should rather be an optional configuration option.

would thus visually shrink to a button with a clickably twisty pointer to the right:

Maybe this link is useful: http://drupalcontrib.org/api/drupal/contributions!ctools!includes!dropbu...

If any of you lovely developers out there would like to implement this, I'd gladly support you.

Thanks @hexabinaer, that's a great suggestion. We're considering making CTools/Views a requirement for Webform module. See #2036805: Use default views instead of hard coded listing pages. I think that's a good proposal because it prepares us for the future of Drupal (where both modules are in core).

However a caveat with that approach when combined with this one, is that Views doesn't currently offer a way to do a dropbutton within a view. It's a feature request here: #1608920: Add drop-button field display.

This is doable by writing a fairly small field handler, in case that issue won't make it.

Version 4.2 uses views for the submissions table. You can write your own views field handler. I don't think this would be part of webform core, however.
