Hi,
Okay, As someone slowly working out of my "newbie" status I've hit my wits end here. What I'm working on is a new site for a test equipment (electronics) company. I'm trying to work this so each product will have it's own node with most all the information for said product. My goal is this. For each product there is a datasheet and manual, what I'm trying to do is make it so the PDF datasheet is downloadable for anyone including an anonymous user. But we'd like to make it so you have to register on the site in order to download the PDF manual for the product. I can easily connect both PDF files to the node/page and then appear in a nice looking table and I can change the names to be more end-user friendly. But I can't seem to find the magic combination to making each file work like I want it to. When I right-click to change the permissions I'm given the 4 standard options of Role View Access/Role Full Access/Role Attach Access and Public Access. I've tried toggling the settings in different ways to see if i can find the magic combination but whenever I select an option in the permissions page based on the roles I've created. Well.... I only seem to get an all or none result. Either the table appears or disappears completely when I log in as an anonymous user. What I'd like is the table to just show one of the two PDF files if I log in as anonymous.
None of the setting mods I do in either the main WebFM control panel seems to affect what is output in the main permissions page....
Please help if you know how to fix this problem....
Thanks... Jeffrey

nhck commentedIn my opinion this is impossible w/ webfms interface. there is no difference in viewing and downloading the files in webfm.

zap-admin commentedThanks Niels,
I eventually came to the same determination late yesterday. So what I did was set the permissions to show the WebFM table for all users except the anonymous user. I then created a file field with the PDF datasheet that appears for anonymous users only. In the permissions I've got it set so only "anonymous" users should have the permission to view it. But the damn thing is still showing up ...... scratch that.... Duh... when I've been logging into the system to test it's either been as "anonymous" or the master admin account. I created an actual user and when i did that things behave correctly. As in, PDF file field shows up only for anonymous, when I log in using regular registered user the PDF file field disappears and the WebFM table shows up in it's place. While logged in as master it appeared that permissions weren't behaving correctly. I'm such a dork. Can't believe it took me so long to make heads and tails of all this. Seemed so difficult before, and now it's so simple...LOL. Nothing like continuing to loose one's drupal virginity. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.
