I've seen this mentioned and hinted at on other tickets, but I couldn't find a straight, usable answer. The question is:

Is it possible to set the default WebFM upload directory to be the same directory used by the native file system/file upload?

(And if the answer is yes, instructions on how to do that would be peach.)

No - otherwise file deletion/modification would have bad consequences for other modules. A subdirectory is required to prevent this.
