We have a site that allows people to upload videos, within webfm we set the limit to 145mb and then changed the php.ini file to allow that size of upload. Everything has been working great for about a year now. Within a week, all of the sudden videos that are larger than 50mb are not able to be uploaded. I made a php statement to see if my php.ini settings are being seen and they are. I have modified the timing settings as well as size settings in the php.ini file. This is installed on a dedicated server and we have people trying to currently upload and are not able to. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well what did you change a week ago? Just diff your backup to the current version of your site.

We did a graceful server reboot around that time maybe, is it possible that, that did anything?

Would you recommend trying to do the reboot again?

Well, actually it sounds to me like you changed something in your server configuration before that reboot. This part of the config then went in to effect. You should consider the changes you might made to .htaccess or your apache-config before that time.

I was having the hosting company that is servicing our dedicated server take a look into it and they think it is the following:

"This appears to be an issue with the tmp partition being almost full on your server. From the looks of the content in that partition it seems that's where files might be temporary saved on the server while the upload is in progress. While I was uploading a test file the tmp partion would show 100% usage which most likely is the reason why the uploads are failing past the 50MB threshold."

They have not taken action in it yet, but if this ends up fixing it I will let you know.

Files uploaded through php are at first stored in the temporary directory and later moved to the desired location. I would think that if you don't enough disk space at that location the loading files to that location would fail.

You might be able to control the target directory via your php.ini, also see here: http://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.upload-tmp-dir

Ok, it was the /tmp folder that was too full. It was storing it on our in a /tmp folder that was not very big so changed the php.ini file and we moved it to another location and /tmp folder that is more accessible and larger. I am not sure why the videos in the /tmp folder do not disappear when they are completely uploaded. For now I will be monitoring the /tmp folder and clearing it out every once in awhile.
