If php5-curl is not installed, the feed import module will bomb with a PHP error on feed import. This isn't a huge problem for me, since I could figure out pretty quickly what the underlying problem was - but it might be a support problem when this best gets out of alpha. Consider this a heads-up.

We'll look into this - I'm also curious what support exists for this within the Feeds module.

We're in the process of collecting up items that should be included in the FAQs, and in a more comprehensive list of server requirements for this.

So, there are a few different ways it could make sense to address this. Thanks for the report.

I'm thinking that this makes sense to address via documentation in the FAQs: http://code.funnymonkey.com/faq

Since this functionality is provided via features, and is a late stage installation step, we can't halt the install before the feature is enabled.

This check should be added to those feature(s) which provide the feeds configuration. We also need to add an additional module to the voicebox stack that checks dependencies this will check the system for all requirements and halt the install if necessary. This way we cover users installing the complete voicebox stack and also those who are installing just the feeds related voicebox features. We can add other warnings or errors to aid documentation as necessary.

This is now done via the voicebox_requirements module. This module checks on behalf of all the voicebox features to ensure our dependencies are met.
