I've committed my first stab at the 2.x line of this module, which supports the 0.3 branch of the JCarousel library. I'm updating the issue here to establish how the 7.x-2.x branch should be developed, what the goals are, and how we can move forward.

I'd like to see a good discussion about features that need to go into this and how they should be implemented.

The main goals are:

1) support JCarousel 0.3 #1977866: jcarousel 0.3 support
2) provide proper library support and identification for JCarousel
3) provide an actual JCarousel window for the main region (now called the 'stage')
4) refactor the pager to properly provide a views pager type.
5) ensure that drush can properly pull down the library

If you are interested in helping with this, please review the 7.x-2.x branch and create/contribute issues related to the above issues. We are also in *open feature request* mode for the 2.x line, so if there's something you'd like to see (and own), add it to the list here and provide some discussion and help.
