Speed of transition not working - OMEGA theme - Animation Speed

I'm using the omega theme so I had to use this patch to get the carousel to display properly.
https://drupal.org/node/1450846

I am trying to set a custom speed of transition in the view and when I put in a milliseconds (ex. 8000 for 8 seconds) it never takes hold. It's always stuck at a 5 second transition. I'm guessing this is the default? I have tried everything by looking into the module code and js as well as the jcarousel library as well. How can I change the transition speed and make it work? I need 8 seconds.

Anyone know a way to overide this because putting it into the view it does not work. Any way to set this via JS or in my themes template.php file?

Thank you!!!
