It would be nice if we could setup simple video settings on a per upload basis. Similar to the way we can set the width of the video per upload.

See the attached image for an example.

The setting I REALLY wish I had is "autoplay".

That is useless and end-user will mess-up with it. Isnt it?

Hi,

I have a user case which this request makes so much sense. I am hoping you would reconsider this.

In my case, the video player defaults not to autoplay any videos. And the site members have no control over changing that behavior (that is intended).

On the other hand the site managers need to set videos on certain pages to play automatically while the default setting is false. For example, on my current project, the front page and the user profile pages, which have only one video that is featured needs to start automatically, while all other videos on those pages should not.

It is not hard to see that this may not be a common need, especially since this ticket was created over 2 years ago, and it hasn't been re-visited since. Perhaps it'll be closed shortly after, too. :-)

Anyways, I hope you would re-consider this feature, or perhaps show me a direction to overwrite it for this specific project I am working on.

Cheers,

Osman

Osman, I have a similar use case.

In its original post, that0n3guy claims this setting should be available on the video upload. While this may be the right approach for his scenario, I think that allowing different display configurations for each instance of the same content type can lead to confusion and usability problems, since the behavior will not be consistent.

On the other hand, I think that this setting makes much more sense on the field formatter settings, because it's legitimate to have the same content with different displays on different sections of the website.

For example, on a page that displays a single video player, autoplay could be turned on. On another page, which displays multiple videos, autoplay should be turned off.

But since this is a slightly different approach, should we open a new feature request?

That make sense to have move global configuration in to the field settings. May be we can use global as default values if they choose to use default. ie one field scenario.

I like the idea of keeping current settings as the site global settings, and exposing the same options in field settings.

So maybe instead of checkboxes it would have to be select boxes to include global setting as an option, for each feature (Auto-play, auto-buffer, etc)

for example:

Autoplay video:
 (o) Site default
 ( ) Yes
 ( ) No

And perhaps, each setting would have their own permissions per content-type, per video-field.

This way, if I want to give my site visitors right to change the setting for their own videos, they could. Meanwhile site editors would have the options at all times...

Any plans on developing these settings on field level?

No, we're not planning on building any major new features. I do plan to work on making the installation process easier and providing better documentation for the existing features.

However, if you were able to contribute a high quality patch that provides the feature you're looking for, I would be happy to review it and accept such a feature, if it were well done. If you can't write the code for this feature, you might consider hiring heshan.lk or Jorrit to develop this feature for you (or other developers). Or you might try crowdfunding such a project using a KickStarter campaign.

Hello, If someone is just interested by playing the first video inside a page, you can just add this JS to the end of your "html.tpl.php" with the autoplay set to off in setting "admin/config/media/video":

<script type="text/javascript">
(function ($) {
var vid = $('video')[0];
if (vid != undefined) vid.play();
}(jQuery));
</script>
