I have realised that I need to test my issue more before posting...hopefully I won't need to raise the issue...anyway I can't see how to delete this original post.

dig1 commentedSorry about the mixup Peter...LOL...I had also encountered a problem with Panels (https://drupal.org/node/1796432) and I wanted to be more specific with any issue I could identify with Versatile, so here goes...
When I install a site with Drupal core 7.15, Chaos tool suite (ctools) 7.x-1.2+4-dev (2012-Sep-25), panels 7.x-3.3, panels_everywhere 7.x-1.0-rc1, views 7.x-3.5, versatile 7.x-1.5+5-dev (2012-Aug-22) and use Versatile 7.x-1.5+5-dev (default theme) then everything works as expected.
However if I change the theme to Versatile (HTML5) 7.x-1.5+5-dev (default theme) then all my page rendering disappears and the page goes bare with only 'a node title (new line) edit (new line) delete' appearing in the top left hand corner.
As soon as I change default theme back to Versatile 7.x-1.5+5-dev (default theme) then everything reverts to normal.
I trust you can replicate this and thanks for you theme. I think the HTML5 stuff is great.
