jQuery dependency

Problem/Motivation

I've tried cappuccino for one of my sites but discovered that it has jquery as dependency. That's not very good keeping in mind that drupal core wants to get rid of this dependency.

Proposed resolution

Is it possible to make a step towards that direction and replace modules that require jquery with something else? For example replace bef with trufil.
