Patch works for me. Thank you! Only problem I can see is that the patch name doesn't follow the generally accepted standard. See https://www.drupal.org/node/1054616

Review the patch and tested as well and this seems to be working perfectly but made a small coding standard fix in the patch.
This solution is working for now but there should be some reason because of which this issue is coming up. Database got tid entries with the category which doesn't exist anymore.
