Move Orders To Next State - doesn't email customer or update order

I have some Bulk Operations set up - including the Move Orders to next State (uc_views_bulk_operations_orders_process_orders). When I update a bunch of orders (say from Processing to Completed) the status changes fine BUT the order comments section does not show the status change and the customer doesn't receive an email informing them their goods have shipped (or the status of their order has changed).

There's not much point changing the status of orders if the customer is not informed and the change isn't logged on their order so they can see it.

Any ideas?
