The latest supported release is 1.4, which has been out since April 2009. As is evidenced by the other cases in the issue tracker, it appears I'm not the only one to find out that the install file has errors:
- #550344: Option Images Bug Fixes and Enhancements
- #450990: Semicolon in install file breaks install
- #439804: New install file problem (with fix)
- #443966: Error in .install file
- #611560: Install syntax error
- #452680: Error in .install file
- #608790: Syntax error in install script
- #628438: Typo on line 11 of .install file
- #671082: Syntax error in install file
- #766844: Install error: syntax error, unexpected ';', expecting ')'
- #775580: Ubercart Option Images won't install
Please, can we get a new supported release out which fixes this? I think that at this point, even a supported DEV release would be fine.
The fact that so many fixes are rolled into #550344: Option Images Bug Fixes and Enhancements makes me unhappy, because that's not technically how the issue system is supposed to be used. Users like the ones in the other duplicate issues won't know to look in a mega-thread like that to find their problem; there should be only one support request / bug report per issue filed. Moreover, comment #17 provides a new release as a downloadable attachment, which circumvents source control.

SchwebDesign commentedupdate: see the thread pursuing exactly this:
Is Ubercart Option Images still being maintained?

Also, the release in comment #51 looks now to be the best/most current update (as opposed to #17): http://drupal.org/node/550344#comment-2997684 however i haven't tested this one.
