I post this as a bug, not a feature request, because this autopinging behaves erratically, and has been a headache for me. If I put a link to a website's main url, trackback goes and finds a random blog post and pings that. It's a big huge problem if I post something of a blogroll on its own page -- trackback goes to town, pinging random blog entries on each URL -- and there's no way to turn it off short of disabling the whole module.
I have received a few complaints from people who have received errant trackback pings to completely inappropriate posts, and wonder at how many others just did not bother to take the time to complain to me.
Would someone perhaps have some time to work up a patch that adds a toggle on the composition page to disable pinging? This autoping "feature" has garnered many complaints here. If someone could find a solution for this, I believe many many Drupallers -- and especially those they link to -- would be very very appreciative.
Thanks!

ankur commentedAuto-detection can be turned off with the latest versions of trackback that are tagged for 4.5, or you can wait for 4.6.
