Trackback is properly running filters on the post before sending it (to expand certain shortcut filters like weblink) but it should also strip tags before sending.

See the trackback at http://www.pvrblog.com/pvr/2005/01/tivotogo_lanuch.html#trackback , specifically mine at the bottom. My entire post should have fit in there but didn't because the character count counted the tags as well. In addition, it persisted the link to the page I had blogged, so now the page with the trackback entry links to itself.

and compare the 2 trackbacks, the 1st one is trackbacked from blog.goo.ne.jp and the 2nd one is from Drupa.
