Currently I am unable to use titles with Vertical Bar "|" as it conflicts with the format of the module.

Hey dtolj, unfortunately this is not something that I intend to fix in 7.x-1.x. A significant rewrite has been done that entirely changes the way this functions in version 7.x-2.x-dev and should fix the issue that you mention. You can download this from the project page.
