I love this widget and I think it's great that there is Drupal support. I can't get around the nbsp conversion to [space] though.

I took a look at this issue #632190, and a couple things struck me:

  • The Libraries module doesn't yet have a stable (or at least RC) release.
  • The space problem comes from the js files stored externally

Is there any way to work around this issue?

  • Modules like SwfTools let you install flash player packages (libraries, in a way) within the module itself.
  • Is there a way to use some sort of filter on the text itself to remove nbsp(s) for just that view?
  • Given the token-like nature of the character, is it possible to create a token for [space] with an nbsp? Would Views interpret this correctly?

Libraries module has a stable release now.
Could you explain a little bit more precisely the problem with nbsp conversion to [space]. I couldn't understand it exactly. Where does this happen? Please give more information. Thank you.

I can replicate this - I am also running in to an issue where non-breaking spaces ( ) are being converted to "[space]" in the pop-up on the SIMILE timeline. This appears to be happening somewhere in the SIMILE display as opposed to Drupal. Happy to help provide further information/research as appropriate to get this replicated and addressed.

Here's a screenshot to demonstrate... just on a regular filtered HTML input format. The [space] entries are all non-breaking HTML spaces.

Hi - I ran into the same issue. I removed '[space]' from the file 'simile-ajax-bundle.js' - not sure which version you're using, but I edited line 2050. I only performed minimal testing to ensure the '[space]' text didn't display. I'm not sure why it was there in the first place.

Marking works as designed since this is an outside library issue.

Here's a patch to apply this fix on a local copy of the SIMILE library.

(FYI, SIMILE is under a FreeBSD (BSD 2-clause) license which is compatible with GPL, so it's OK to post on d.o.)

This is now issue 448 in the outside library's project queue: http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/issues/detail?id=448
