I am wondering if Timeline can do this:

Each person has their own timeline which is populated with events. Using some other tools, I could call in different people and have their timelines compared to one another. Their timelines could be in the same instance or perhaps it should be in two separate timelines...

Probably not. This aims to be a small widget you can use in your site. Maybe with some programming you can get a similar approach. But the timeline as it is can not do this out of the box.
