Link or automatically generate activities to content type title.

I may not have worded the title of this issue correctly. Please edit as necessary.

Here's my situation. I installed the PM module, but found that it really had too much for my simple application. I used it as a model to create content types My Project and My Tasks. Tasks are linked to Projects. One project can have zero, one, or many Tasks.

I have set both My Project and My Task as entities that Time Tracker will use. This works very well. What I would like to do is to automatically fill in the Activity name with the title of a given project or task. Can you give me a brief tutorial about how I can do this. I am new to Drupal so please do not assume prior knowledge of a given aspect of Drupal.
