Is there a way to have the time tracker (duration) automatically start when a user views a node? I am using the course module and want to track the time on each individual course object (book pages, quizzes etc).

I tried to use rules:
react on event: Content is viewed of type Book page
condition: on node 174
action: missing* (start time tracker automatically instead of user pressing the start button)

I tried changing the event to when "A time entry was entered on Course object bundle Course objects" but there is still no action of starting the timer automatically.

Is this module intended for the user to track their own time only? I am trying to make it so that the course admin can view the time sheet for every user that takes the course, and can view everyone's time duration for each course object without having the user to control the start/stop. Would it be also possible for the time tracker to resume/pause on its own whenever the user goes to another page/exits out the page etc? Thank you for the help!

Unfortunately, at the moment, this requires a fair chunk of custom code. You'd have to create the missing action yourself, and build a dead-man switch-style system to trigger the automatic shutoff of the timer (have some javascript make an ajax request to a page every 30 seconds, and if the page hasn't heard from the javascript in 1min, shutoff the timer).

This module is primarily intended for users to track their own time, not really for a system to track time on behalf of users. However, I'd be willing to investigate this at a later date.
