I have a term field "test" of type Text (Simple text field) assigned to a vocabulary "Country". It contains two letters abbreviation for the country.
This vocabulary assigned to a content type "Country description"
The Pathauto settings for this content type is country/[field-test].
When I create new node of type "Country description" path alias is not generated.
If other tokens used in Pathauto settings the path alias is generated. So it's not Pathauto problem.

I tried to reproduce the issue:

  1. fresh Drupal 6 installation, with Pathauto, Token, Devel and Term Fields modules
  2. Creation of a Taxonomy field "Country" for a vocabulary "Test" of type "Textfield"
  3. Generation of 5 random terms with Devel
  4. Editing of those terms to add a vlue for the country field

Test 1: using the token in pathauto

  1. Deletion of all path aliases
  2. Update the taxonomy term pattern for the "Test" vocabulary: category/[vocab-raw]/[catpath-raw]/[field-country]
  3. Generate all the path aliases for taxonomy

Result: all aliases have the country field value at the end of the URL

Test2: term creation

  1. Create a term with the value "IT" for the country field
  2. Save the term

Result: the path alias finish by /it as expected

It seems that the bug you get is due to your specific configuration and probably to an incompatibility between modules.

Feel free to reopen this issue as "support request" if you have more information to reproduce the bug you get.
