Postgres 8.3, received the following error when browsing to the edit term page after adding a term field:

user warning: query: SELECT `term_email_value` FROM term_fields_term WHERE tid = 9 in /vhost/www.example.com/modules/term_fields/term_fields.module on line 1171.

This is probably because Postgres doesn't like backticks in queries.

See attached for patch against 2.1 that removes the backticks, and works for my Postgres install.

Not sure what this will do to MySQL.

(Previously the value wouldn't appear in my field, and now it does)
