I would like to (co)maintain this project. Please tell if it's ok from your point of view

Sure. Have you tried the ThemeKey module with TaxonomyTheme for Drupal 6? Basically ThemeKey does all the heavy lifting and TaxonomyTheme is a "UI-only" module now, which makes it easier for unexperienced users to manage theme assignments for taxonomy vocabs/terms.

I suggest that you start helping in/with the queue. You dont have much of a user history on drupal.org, what means I'd prefer to not grant you access to cvs for the first few days/weeks.

Ok, I'll take a look at ThemeKey (didn't heard about it before, actually).

I didnt have time to document the changes and to write a nice README. However, ThemeKey tries to solve all the issues that arised for TaxonomyTheme 4.7/5.x (for example, handling of multiple taxonomy terms and weighting, etc.). During the last two release cycles TaxonomyTheme developed from a simple taxonomy-related module to a more sophisticated theme switcher including the ability to use a path-based assignment pattern. ThemeKey now shifts the focus of TaxonomyTheme back to "Taxonomy", although the module is not required for experienced users as ThemeKey provides all the functionality itself.

@valthebald: Are you still interested in co-maintaining this module?

Actually, no :(
I don't run any 5.x - based sites, and for 6.x ThemeKey is far more flexible, while 6.x Taxonomy theme is fully functional for backward compatibility purposes.

That's what I wanted to achieve. Thanks for your feedback.
