unlike the D6 update i provided on http://drupal.org/node/215796, the current code dont erase database data when a node type or taxonomy vocabulary is deleted. The data will remain forever on db.

Just committed a fix to this. Still nothing to clean up OLD settings orphaned before this change, but that's a separate issue.
