I have permissions set so a user can view/update/delete/create/list some terms and not others in a certain vocab. But how do I configure my site so they actually can do this? If I leave "administer taxonomy" unchecked for a user in the user permissions, I don't know where that user would go to edit a term, since they get a "you are not authorized to access the page" error when they go to administer -> taxonomy. If I check "administer taxonomy" for the user, they can view/update/delete/create/list all terms, and not just the ones I have given them permission for.
I have adding terms working OK since that can be configured to happen in a node creation form, but I just don't know about the rest (edit, delete, rename, etc.) Do I create views using the views module to list the terms and allow editing from there? If so, what is the URL I need to point to for editing a specific term?

dhaven commentedHi, have you tried using the 'free tagging'? this allows the user to enter terms which get stored the the vocab

whyameye commentedso that allows users to add terms, which I already have working. What about renaming that term?

cpugeniusmv commentedUsers can't rename/edit/delete terms without having that administer taxonomy permission (or perhaps some other module). This module only controls access to nodes based on taxonomy, it does not control access to taxonomy terms/vocabularies themselves.

dhaven commentedjust read your post PROPERLY! I see what your trying to do and to be honest I don't know other than allowing them access to the admin categories section. So I'll make way for experienced druplers.

whyameye commentedok so you are saying the first bullet point of the module description is wrong, then (emphasis is added by me):
Automatically controls access to taxonomy terms and nodes (based on their category terms)
cpugeniusmv commentedThat seems to be the case. I'll fix that.

remaye commentedI was also looking for a module that give to a specific role (the webmaster of the site in my case) access to list/create/modify/delete terms of a specific vocabulary (that is not what the TAC module do).
To fulfill this goal there is Taxonomy Term Lock (http://drupal.org/project/term_lock) that works great!
Maybe this information come too late for Whyameye but it can be usefull for others...
But in fact what I was looking for first, was to have a taxonomy widget that provide (within the node form) a list of all existing terms of a vocabulary and allow authorized users to select (multiple choice) or add a new term to the vocabulary if it doesn't exist. The auto-complete field widget do that but it's not easy to have a quick look to existing terms. The multiple choice list widget allows it but do not allow to add terms. Why don't have the advantage of both ?
Does anybody knows if that kind of widget exists ... ? Or any other solution to do that ?
Thanks.
Otherwise, using Taxonomy Term Lock to at least allow the webmaster role to access to the vocabulary and manage the terms before using them in the node form works...
