6.x contains its own copy of tarteaucitron so we have to publish a new release every time there is an important fix in tarteaucitron, which is tedious.
Most of the websites using this module are still on 6.x so we can't unsupport it yet: https://new.drupal.org/project/usage/tacjs
We could simply wait for websites to gradually move to 7.x but we could also try to accelerate that trend.
Should we add a warning on the module page or the status report to encourage people to move to 7.x?
Should we plan a date to unsupport it and announce it?

mably commentedAnnouncing a date could be a solution with a warning on the module's page.
Flagging the 6.x version as unsupported doesn't mean we'll stop fixing bugs or security issues; it simply means we can't guarantee that we will.
